I’ve been experimenting with different editing styles lately and the most recent style I’m really starting to get into are these “Moody Tones” styled shoots. I hate to say moody because it sounds so gloomy, but it’s more about referencing the darker tones that really help set a mood – which in the case of weddings is hopefully this romantic movie-like tone.

It’s about taking away those bright highlights and giving life to those shadows and blacks. Basically it’s less highlights and more of a matte look with a bit of contrast. You can say it’s pretty much the opposite of the light and airy look.

Obviously I’m no where close to getting the results they are, still experimenting but what an inspiration!

I’ve been known to blow out my highlights here and there so I feel like this is a kind of nice change of pace.

And with that said, first and foremost the subjects and setting will really be the driving force behind the overall look and choice of edits. Thankfully, my friends over at Radleigh + Sage Event Company asked me to be part of this Bridal Shoot and I think was a perfect shoot to test out these edits.

I think the drama of the lighting in The Keating Hotel really provides the perfect setting for these gorgeous tones. Some photos below of wedding prep and the cutest and most fakest first look ever lol.
